The Rolex GMT-Master

The GMT-Master was created in the mid-1950s with Pan American Airways, whose crews needed to keep track of two time zones on long-haul flights. A 24-hour hand and a two-colour rotating bezel let the wearer read home time and local time at a glance, and the design has changed remarkably little since. The GMT-Master II, introduced in 1982, added an independently adjustable hour hand, making it easy to change time zone when you land.

Bezel colours have become nicknames in their own right: red and blue "Pepsi", blue and black "Batman", brown and gold "Root Beer". Pre-owned favourites include the aluminium-bezel 16700 and 16710, the ceramic 116710LN, and the current 126710 series with the calibre 3285.
